8 Injured After Mercedes Plows Into Crowd Following Eagles-Commanders Game: Police

Eight people were injured when a silver Mercedes drove into a crowd on Spring Garden Street in Philadelphia after the Eagles-Commanders game Sunday, Jan. 26, police announced.

The driver, 26-year-old Rebekah DeShields of Narberth, PA, is facing serious charges after a 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLA250 struck eight pedestrians, police said.

The crash happened at 1400 Spring Garden Street at 9:31 p.m., shortly after fans flooded the streets following the Philadelphia Eagles' game against the Washington Commanders, according to police.

The injured individuals suffered a range of wounds, from minor pain to fractures, authorities detailed.

DeShields was taken into custody at the scene and now faces charges including Aggravated Assault, Driving without a License, Simple Assault, Reckless Driving, and related offenses, police said.

Authorities have released DeShields’ mugshot and are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact the Philadelphia Police Department.
